Mission

The Millbury Bicentennial Committee, as formed in 2008, will coordinate the historic significance of the town over the past 200 years through a yearlong celebration for all residents. This celebration will commence in 2012 and culminate in 2013.

Beginning June 11, 2012, and ending on July 4, 2013, Millbury will be commemorating its 200th anniversary with many celebratory events and activities. Residents, organizations and businesses are encouraged to participate in events and/or donate to the cause. This special anniversary provides an opportunity to celebrate Millbury’s history and heritage and to foster a sense of pride in our community.

Join us as we celebrate the rich history and the amazing contributions of the individuals and organizations that have made Millbury what it is today.

Millbury Bicentennial Commemorative Coins available

The Millbury Bicentennial Committee is offering three sets of commemorative coins to mark the town’s upcoming 200th anniversary. A silver two-coin set will be sold in limited quantities for $40, and includes the 1976 Town of Millbury U.S. Bicentennial coin in sterling silver and the newly designed Millbury Bicentennial coin in nickel with an antique silver finish.  The same two-coin set in a bronze finish is $30. A single Millbury Bicentennial coin minted in pure silver is currently $75, subject to fluctuation in silver prices. Each comes in a leather presentation box suitable for display. Get your limited-edition Millbury Bicentennial Santa made by Vaillancourt Folk Art in Sutton, MA. Two hundred of the hand-painted and numbered chalkware figurines will be produced, which will be available for preorder beginning at 9 a.m. Oct. 18 at Millbury Savings Bank, 109 Elm St. Proceeds will help fund the town’s bicentennial events planned for 2012 to 2013.
